Adil Baguirov makes strides in Dayton schools transportation

Adil Baguirov
After accomplishing his campaign promises on the Dayton Board of Education in Ohio, businessman Adil Baguirov got to work achieving additional goals for Dayton Public Schools that would benefit the entire district. Transportation was one of those achievements and a significant one. Baguirov led his fellow Board of Education members to improvements in this area that included safety and cost savings. Buses that averaged 15 years old -- with some as old as 27 years -- were replaced with 115 new, top-of-the-line vehicles that included full warranties, a 2.06% interest rate and financing for the district. The fleet was more comfortable, significantly safer for students and saved Dayton Public Schools immensely on repair costs as well as fuel inefficiencies the aging buses previously encountered. This was a win for Adil Baguirov and school transportation in Dayton.

Adil Baguirov improves Dayton school transportation

Adil Baguirov

During his four-year elected tenure with the Dayton Board of Education, including service as its president, Adil Baguirov notes improvements to the district’s transportation woes among his biggest of many achievements.

With neglect obvious among the Dayton Public Schools bus fleet, Baguirov recognized a need to better this segment of the district. Buses were averaging 15 years old and maintenance costs were steep. Adil Baguirov and his fellow Board of Education members financed the purchase of 115 new, state-of-the-art buses with 10-year warranties and low interest rates. These buses not only improved safety, but they improved the transportation budget immensely as maintenance and fuel costs reduced significantly.

Just How Does Adil Baguirov Make a Difference

Adil Baguirov
The keys to Adil Baguirov’s successful 2013 campaign for the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education lay in the three simple yet profound campaign promises he made. He came up with these three promises out of his strong desire to always give back to his community. That is something he feels is a critical part of a well-lived life. Because of his desire to give back, running the community’s school system seemed like a natural and topped his list of things to do. By 2013, Dayton’s schools were the second-poorest in the state, out of more than 600 districts, and they were on the verge of a state takeover. That led Adil Baguirov to believe he could offer significant help.

In his campaign, Adil Baguirov promised to bring better technology to the Dayton Public Schools, in the form of better computers for students, special software designed to improve academic support for students and a mobile app so that parents have more information and control over their experience. Adil also promised to provide students with a better cultural and academic curriculum, to make the schools more responsive and responsible. He also promised to being more transparency and accountability with school district financial issues.

Since Adil Baguirov was elected, the Board of Education has largely fulfilled those promises. It should surprise no one, since his background provides him with a lot of relevant knowledge. He owns a very prominent logistics and transportation company in north Dayton and he is also a very prominent commercial real estate investor in the community. Adil Baguirov also has authored many academic books and articles and he is very well-regarded as a lecturer. he has moderated many academic conferences as well.

How Adil Baguirov Had Made the Schools Better

Adil Baguirov
One thing that can be said about Adil Baguirov is that, as a member of the Dayton Public Schools Board of Education, he has largely met and exceeded the promises he made to the people who voted him to that position in 2013. During his active four years so far, he has been able to see to it that the technology in the schools improved, he has helped to bring financial accountability and responsibility to the school district’s finances. He has also led the way in securing responsible financing (at 2.06 percent) for the replacement of most of Dayton's fleet of aging school buses with a total of 115 brand-new buses that are among the best available and which come with a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. These new buses are certainly safer and more comfortable for the children, but they are also supported by students and parents.

Throughout his four-year active stint with the urban Dayton Board of Education. His was a school district that is the second-poorest in Ohio out of more than 600 districts. Adil Baguirov has certainly made a difference. Before he arrived on the scene, the Dayton Public Schools district was very close to having to deal with a state takeover. Now, with his and the other board members' attempts to significantly modernize the system, the Dayton Public Schools are in perhaps the best shape they have been in several decades. In fact, the district received an "A" on their last state report, thus averting the possibility of a state takeover.

At his heart, Adil Baguirov considers himself to be passionate about his community of Dayton, Ohio, which is why he feels it is important to make sure he helps his community of Dayton as much as possible. To him, education, technology and fiscal accountability as the keys to building a strong community.
